Beau Buchanan, oboist

Hello and thanks for visiting! Please feel free reach out regarding my availability to cover oboe, bassoon and saxophone (soprano, alto) in the Mobile area. I also offer woodwind doubling for pit orchestras, musicals and operas to include Bb clarinet, flute and piccolo coverage.

In addition to performing, I also teach beginning, intermediate and advanced players for all woodwinds.

I have several years performing experience as principal oboist for the Lake Union Civic Orchestra, Seattle, Hachinohe Philharmonic, Oirase, Japan and served as founding chair and bassoonist for the Amazon Symphony Orchestra, Seattle.

My Musical Journey

Beau received his Masters of Music Performance from the University of Delaware and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida, Tampa. He has also accomplished a Band Instrument Repair Diploma from the prestigious Red Wing repair program at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical as a student of John Huth and Ken Cance.

His musical career flourished in Hachinohe, Japan, when he was an active performer as co-principal oboist and in-house repair technician/consultant with the Hachinohe Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performed frequently with the Hachinohe Philharmonic Quintet throughout Northern Japan and as a founding member of the Kaji Trio. Beau is very passionate about teaching and has coached numerous students and groups internationally.
